29 imagesThis gallery contains a selection of photographs that appear within the book 'Spirit of Place - the distilleries of Scotland', taken with the Leica S2 and are by Lara Platman. Spirit of Place, the Distilleries of Scotland. Published by Frances Lincoln 2015. A wide-ranging and evocative portrait of Scotland’s distilleries, with text by renowned whisky expert Charles MacLean and photographs by Lara Platman and Alan MacDonald. Treating Scotland as eight distinct regions, this fascinating book describes the ‘cultural terroir’ of the country's fifty greatest distilleries; the ingredients, practices and traditions that result in such an exquisite range of whiskies. Specially commisioned photographs capture the texture of the surrounding landscapes and communities through the changing seasons, as well as portraits of those craftsmen who work there, and the fabric of the buildings themselves. Spirit of Place is a unique addition to the literature on Scotch whisky, from the world's greatest expert on the subject. The perfect gift for anyone planning a tour of Scotland's distilleries, a souvenir for anyone who has visited them, and simply the perfect companion to a dram at home. You can purchase a copy of the book from Lara Platman by using the contact page.

29 imagesTHROUGH THE NIGHT = PHOTOGRAPHS AND BOOK FOR SALE CONTACT ME FOR TO PURCHASE THE PHOTOGRAPHS PRINTED IN PADDOCK LIFE MAGAZINE AT THE PADDOCK LIFE MAGAZINE PRICE. (SPRING 2021) Exhibition Prints are £800 each +Vat (unmounted) print size 20" x 13" Exhibition Prints are £950 each +Vat (mounted and in wooden frame ) frame size 24" x 20" Exhibition signed Books are £40 inc Vat ( £35 inc Vat -when purchased at an exhibition) The theatre of the pit lane is something of a magical experience, hidden from the crowds in the grandstand, the drivers, mechanics and engineers all work towards winning the race. My first night time event was the Spa Six Hours where, I fell in love with my Leica Noctilux lens, providing me with such detail from utilising simple car headlamps. Visiting the Monte Carlo Rally Historic I endured the early 4am starts in the snow to capture the cars and people who I now consider to be my friends. Hitching a lift to the FIA World Endurance Championship Series at Le Mans for the 24 hours race, I slept in a car trailer empty of its Ferrari, for some of the day so I could be alert from when I went out shooting at night. A lifestyle editorial piece commissioned for the Nurburgring 24 hour race allowed me to walk around the Nordschleife Forest to witness the motorsport fans. Through the Night is a selection of my favourite photographs from these races. Some commissioned and others taken out of pure curiosity. It has made me understand the beauty of waiting and often allowed me to be part of a team.

34 imagesDue to the COVID-19 pandemic, many artists have found themselves without work, teaching, technical support and gallery work. Exhibitions and sales have disappeared. In an attempt to help alleviate some of this stress @matthewburrowsstudio instigated the ARTIST SUPPORT PLEDGE #artistsupportpledge The concept is a simple one. Artists post images of their work, on Instagram which they are willing to sell for no more than £200 each (not including shipping). Anyone can buy the work. Every time an artist reaches £1000 of sales, they pledge to spend £200 on another artist/s work. Repost and tell your friends, colleagues and collectors. Let generosity be infectious. I have collected together photographs from the two exhibitions that have been cancelled or postponed this Spring to create a virtual exhibition for you and participate in the great initiative of the Artist Support Pledge. All photographs are individually hand printed and personally signed under the image on the white paper. They are printed on Hahnemuhle Fine Art Photo Rag Baryta 315gsm Cotton paper. Paper size is 19" x 16" and image size is 16" x 11". All photographic prints are £200.00 plus £5.00 for UK or £10.00 for worldwide postage. PayPal Payment for an indiviual photographic print: UK Postage: https://py.pl/1flvfHgaZTI Worldwide Postage : https://py.pl/1f6lYQ I can also be paid via my PayPal Profile: paypal.me/photofeature PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHICH PHOTOGRAPHIC PRINT YOU WOULD LIKE TO ORDER.
